Dr. Vala received his PhD in software engineering from University of Malaya (70th at QS world ranking) in 2014, with several awarded research grants in his records. He also received a post-doc offer from UM as a data scientist, resulted in several publications in top journals. Meanwhile, as a lead data scientist, Vala have managed a team of 30 academicians and data scientists to analyze millions of dataset records in national level.
Having more than 15 professional certificates in data science, Vala currently is based in Portugal as an associate professor and the founder and chief data scientist of Data Corner with two branches in Malaysia and Portugal, which recently invited to the Enterprise European Network (EEN) as a flagship startup in Portugal.
Amin Beheshti, PhD
Director of AI-enabled Processes (AIP) Research Centre Associate Professor in Macquarie University
Dr. Amin Beheshti is the Director of AI-enabled Processes (AIP) Research Centre and the head of the Data Analytics Research Lab, Department of Computing, Macquarie University. He is also Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Associate Professor in USA) in Data Science at Macquarie University and Adjunct Academic in Computer Science at UNSW Sydney. Amin completed his PhD and Postdoc in Computer Science and Engineering in UNSW Sydney and holds a Master and bachelor’s in computer science both with First Class Honours. In addition to his contribution to teaching activities, Amin extensively contributed to research projects; where he was the R&D Team Lead and Key Researcher in the ‘Case Walls & Data Curation Foundry’ and ‘Big Data for Intelligence’ projects. Amin has been recognized as a high-quality researcher in Big-Data/Data/Process Analytics and has been invited to serve and served as Keynote Speaker, General-Chair, PC-Chair, Organisation-Chair and program committee member of top international conferences. He is the leading author of the book entitled “Process Analytics”, co-authored with other high-profile researchers in UNSW and IBM research, recently published by Springer. Amin was able to secure over $2.6 million research grants for AI-Enabled and Intelligence-Led projects in Banking and Education.
Raquel Barreira, PhD
Associate Professor in Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (IPS)
Professora Raquel Barreira has a PhD in Mathematics (University of Sussex, UK) and a postgraduation in Data Science (University of Lisbon). She currently leads the coordination team of the bachelor degree in Bioinformatics (IPS), and participates in multidisciplinary research projects involving Data Science and high performance computing. She is an expert in numerical analysis and her work has been published in international impactful journals. She has more than 15 years of experience teaching in higher education.
Ghazaleh Babanejad, PhD
Senior Data Scientist in Data Corner
Dr. Ghazaleh Babanejad has a PhD of DataBase Systems at University Putra Malaysia in Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology. She worked on Preference queries in the field of skyline queries over Dynamic and Incomplete databases for her PhD thesis. She is also working on Data Science field as a trainer and Senior Data Scientist from 2014. She worked on Machine Learning and Process Mining projects. She also has several international certificates in Practical Machine Learning (John Hopkins University), Mining Massive Datasets (Stanford University), Process Mining (Eindhoven University), Hadoop (University of San Diego), MongoDB for DBAs (MongoDB Inc) and some other data science certificates. She has more than 10-year experience as a lecturer, data base administrator and data scientist.
Atabak Kheirkhah, PhD
Senior Data Engineer and Lead Software Developer
Dr Atabak Kheirkhah achieved his PhD in computer science, with a majority in Artificial Intelligence. He has Total of 17 years of experience in data engineering, architecture and integration. Broad experience in commercial software architecture and development. Experience in all stages of software development life cycle, high performance, and high-availability secure reliable systems. He is experienced in planning and leadership through execution of 4DX, WIG and Agile. He is a programming practitioner mentored fellow developers on the various aspects of application architecture and development. His main research is on development and analysis of computational prediction via a variety of machine learning algorithms particularly neural networks and sequence-based models. He achieved his certificates on docker, kubernetes, MapR, Flume and Advance Spark. He is a lecturer and trainer in some universities and institutes and currently leading DevOps and Data engineering team in telecommunication companies.
